Shortwave proved that AI belongs in email. Slashy takes that further — instead of summarizing your inbox, the AI agent drafts replies, runs automations, and takes action on your behalf.

What Feels Familiar

  • AI-powered inbox — machine learning sorts and prioritizes email
  • Smart organization — automatic grouping and labeling
  • Bundles / Labels — emails sorted into categories
  • Modern UI — clean, fast, keyboard-friendly interface

The Key Difference

Shortwave AI summarizes. Slashy AI acts.

What’s Better in Slashy

AI Agent

Open with Cmd+/. Ask it to draft, send, search, schedule, or set up automations. It executes — not just suggests.

Automations

Set up recurring background tasks: daily dropped ball scans, meeting prep briefings, receipt forwarding, VIP email alerts.

Calendar

Full calendar view (2), busy-time overlays, and Shift+Cmd+A to insert availability in replies.

iMessage

Get important email alerts, daily summaries, and OTP codes forwarded to iMessage. Reply to emails from iMessage.

Shortwave Bundles vs Slashy Labels

Shortwave bundles group emails by type. Slashy importance labels do the same but are AI-classified and trainable:
  • Move an email to a different label and the AI learns from the correction
  • Customize label names and descriptions to match your workflow
  • Labels are bidirectional with Gmail — changes sync both ways

Setting Up Snippets

Slashy Snippets replace any templates you used in Shortwave or Gmail canned responses.
1

Create a snippet

Press n s to open the snippet creator. Add a name, shortcut key, and body text.
2

Insert while composing

Press / to search and insert any snippet.
3

Use variables

Add {{first_name}}, {{company}}, or custom fields. Slashy auto-fills from contact data.

Migration Checklist

1

Connect your Gmail account

Sign up at slashy.com and connect via Google OAuth. Full email history syncs in 2-15 minutes.
2

Replace Shortwave Bundles with labels

Go to Settings > Labels and configure importance labels. These are Slashy’s version of Bundles, but they learn from your corrections and sync with Gmail.
3

Add AI memories

Settings > Memories — describe your role, writing style, and preferences so AI drafts match your voice from day one.
4

Try AI Draft Reply

Open any thread and press Cmd+Enter to generate a full reply draft. Edit and send.
5

Set up your first automation

Open the agent sidebar (Cmd+/) and say “Set up a daily dropped ball scanner.” This scans for emails that need follow-up — something Shortwave cannot do.
6

Create snippets

Press n s to create reusable email templates with AI variable substitution ({{first_name}}, {{company}}).
7

Explore the calendar

Press 2 to open the full calendar view. Use Shift+Cmd+A to insert your availability directly into replies instead of trading times by email.
