# Switching from Shortwave to Slashy

> What's similar, what's different, and why Slashy's AI goes beyond summarization.

Shortwave proved that AI belongs in email. Slashy takes that further -- instead of summarizing your inbox, the AI agent drafts replies, runs automations, and takes action on your behalf.

## What Feels Familiar

* **AI-powered inbox** -- machine learning sorts and prioritizes email
* **Smart organization** -- automatic grouping and labeling
* **Bundles / Labels** -- emails sorted into categories
* **Modern UI** -- clean, fast, keyboard-friendly interface

## The Key Difference

**Shortwave AI summarizes. Slashy AI acts.**

| Shortwave                             | Slashy                                                                   |
| ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| AI summarizes threads | AI drafts full replies in your voice |
| AI answers questions about your inbox | AI answers questions *and* takes action (send, archive, label, schedule) |
| Bundles group similar emails | Importance labels auto-sort with AI that learns from your corrections |
| No automations | Background automations: dropped ball scanner, meeting prep, VIP alerts |
| No iMessage | iMessage integration for alerts, summaries, and OTP forwarding |
| No calendar | Full calendar with availability insert and Meet With overlay |
| Web app only | Desktop app, web app, and iOS app |

## Shortwave Bundles vs Slashy Labels

Shortwave bundles group emails by type. Slashy importance labels do the same but are AI-classified and trainable:

* Move an email to a different label and the AI learns from the correction
* Customize label names and descriptions to match your workflow
* Labels are bidirectional with Gmail -- changes sync both ways

## Setting Up Snippets

Slashy Snippets replace any templates you used in Shortwave or Gmail canned responses.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create a snippet">
    Press `n s` to open the snippet creator. Add a name, shortcut key, and body text.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Insert while composing">

  </Step>
</Steps>
